Student success drives training program

Central Regional TAFE’s Heavy Vehicle Driving Operations course has rolled past another major milestone with the first class of 2024 completing their practical driving assessments and gaining their heavy rigid drivers licenses.

This specialised truck driving course was implemented to meet the demand for trained truck drivers in the Western Australian workforce.

Central Regional TAFE students worked with expert lecturers to gain their HR drivers licenses after intensive theoretical, and firsthand truck driving experience at Muresk Institute.

Taking advantage of the Jobs and Skills Centre co located with TAFE in Northam, students were assisted to find and apply for regional and metropolitan job opportunities immediately.

The Heavy Vehicle Driving Operations course was developed in collaboration with peak trucking body, the Western Roads Federation and Central Regional TAFE.

The course delivers all the basic skills required to start a new career in transport and is delivered over 8 weeks in a blended format of classroom theory and real-world experience in heavy rigid training vehicles.

Goldfield’s students have the opportunity to be come part of this success story, with enrolments open now for the next Heavy Vehicle Driving Operations course in Kalgoorlie-Boulder starting on the 22nd of April.
